About this event

  • 38 days 7 hours

The Bridges Summer Writing Program is almost here! Take part in Project Ink, a two-week summer creative writing camp for students entering 4th to 8th grade. The teacher to student ratio is generally 1 to 8 (but may go up to 9 at most).

Classes will be live at our institute.

At Project Ink, students will develop their love for writing. Using their imagination to create their own fictional story, students will learn practical tips and useful techniques to become better writers. They will practice the five steps to the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing a finalized story.

STEP 1: CHOOSE A SESSION

  • Session One: June 24 to July 3, 2024 - For Session 1, because we will not have class on July 4th (falling on the 2nd Thursday), we will have an extra class on Friday, June 28. Therefore, classes for Session 1 will be Monday (June 24) to Friday (June 28), and then Monday (July 1) to Wednesday (July 3).
  • Session Two: July 8 to July 18, 2024 (Monday to Thursday)
  • Session Three: July 22 to August 1, 2024 (Monday to Thursday)

STEP 2: CHOOSE MORNING OR AFTERNOON

  • Morning: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Afternoon: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

STEP 3: CHOOSE A GRADE LEVEL

  • Upper Elementary (4th & 5th Grade): entering 4th and 5th grade in Fall 2024.
  • Junior High (6th to 8th Grade): entering 6th and 8th grade in Fall 2024.

Frequently asked questions

Are there any refunds for cancellations?

We apologize, but there are NO REFUNDS. Please confirm your child’s summer schedule and your vacation schedule before registering.

Can I get a refund if my child does not like the program and does not want to attend Project Ink?

There are no refunds, even if your child decides after the first day or in the middle of the session that he does not like it. Please discuss the decision to enroll for Project Ink with your child before registering.

If a class is full, can I get on a waitlist?

Yes. To get on the waitlist, please click on the Waitlist button at https://www.brwi.org/projectink/. We will email you if any registrations are canceled or if we open up a new class.

How much does it cost?

$840 per student (plus Eventbrite’s processing fee of $58.18). Therefore, for each registration, the total amount is $898.18 (assuming EventBrite’s fees do not change).

How long is each session?

Two weeks.

What if my child has to miss some days during Project Ink?

The structure of Project Ink requires all students to be present every day. Due to the number of students in each class and the substantial amount of curriculum the teachers must teach every day, the BRWI teachers will not be able to take away time from other students to help absent students.

What does my student need to bring to class?

Your student must bring a laptop (not an iPad due to formatting issues) and have access to a Google account to use Google Docs. When registering, you will be required to provide your child's Gmail address (not a school account).

Should I enroll my child in more than one session?

Students are more than welcome to sign up for more than one session. Keep in mind that every session will cover the same material, so your child would only benefit from writing multiple stories.

Can I get on the email distribution list for Project Ink for next year?

Please submit your information online to join our mailing list at https://www.brwi.org/connect.
